Terry Waite wrote his first book, Taken on Trust in his head when he was denied pen or paper during his captivity for almost five years in Beirut. It was published on his release. Since then he has written many books – his latest is a thoughtful look at solitude through his own personal ordeal and the experiences of others.
Next year sees a new edition of Travels with a Primate released, an account of some of the amusing happenings that occurred when Waite accompanied the Archbishop of Canterbury on his official visits throughout the world. Although Terry turns 80 in 2019, he continues to be fully occupied in working for the homeless, hostages and their families, overseas development and many other humanitarian activities.
