Join us for a timely & thought-provoking examination of the domestic life of the modern woman. This afternoon these three authors will share their research and first-hand experiences of motherhood, domestic care and labour, in what is bound to be a lively discussion.

Sally Howard is a journalist specialising in gender, human rights and social trends. Her latest book, The Home Stretch examines how & why the domestic labour gap is widening - in the UK, the average heterosexual British woman puts in 12 more days of household labour per year than her male companion, while young American men are now twice as likely as their fathers to think a woman's place is in the home.

Candice Brathwaite is a Sunday Times bestselling author, journalist, TV presenter, and founder of Make Motherhood Diverse - an online initiative that aims to ensure many more people see themselves reflected online. In I am Not Your Baby Mother Candice draws attention to the problematically homogenous portrayal of maternity and motherhood in British media and offers an inspirational guide to life as a black mother.

Nicky Busch is an academic and author with a particular interest in gender, care, domestic work & migration. Co-authored with Rosie Cox, As an Equal, examines the traditional notion of au-pairing, with contemporary reality and what this says about the wider political climate of extended working hours, poor public childcare, economic austerity and the position of women.

Chaired by journalist & presenter Peg Alexander
